Day 1: Arrival D
Arrive in Munich and transfer to your hotel where you will spend 2
nights. Relax before meeting your Tour Director.
Day 2: Munich orientation & Christmas Market BB
Orientation includes the Olympic Stadium, the Marienplatz and
the ‘Hofbrauhaus’. Visit the Christmas Markets, before indulging
your Christmas Spirit at one of the city’s Beer-Halls for the evening.
Day 3: Munich - Nuremberg BB D
Off to Augsburg stopping to admire its cathedral and visit
their Christmas Market. Journey down the Romantic Road to
Rothenburg admiring its traditional houses and Christmas shops
and market. Check into your Nuremberg hotel for 2 nights. |
Day 4: Nuremberg orientation & Christmas Market BB
This town provides a fairy tale backdrop to Germany’s most
fascinating Christmas Market. Enjoy a walking tour of this
traffic-free city seeing the squares, St. Sebald Church, Castle and
fortifications. Plenty of free time to explore.
Day 5: Nuremberg – Strasbourg BB D
Travel to Heidelberg Castle to visit its courtyard and ancient cellars
and to admire the Great Vat! There’s time to shop for Christmas
decorations before following the Rhine Valley to France. Enter
the Alsace region and its capital Strasbourg and check into your
Strasbourg accommodation.
Day 6: Strasbourg sightseeing & Christmas Market BB
Today’s guided sightseeing includes the
Cathedral, the merchants’ houses, the
Place Gutenberg, and the picturesque
quarter of ‘La Petite France’. You will
also enjoy a glass-roofed boat cruise
(weather permitting) through the city’s
many charming canals. Why not add
an excursion to the wine-village of
Riquewihr.
Day 7: Strasbourg – Munich BB
Travel back to Germany via Freiburg and
into the hills of the Black Forest. Pass
Lake Titisee to Lake Constance stopping

Days 1 – 2: Nuremberg
Your city tour of Nuremberg will take you to the
‘Christkindlesmarkt’ Christmas Market, where you can browse
through over 200 wooden stalls filled with signature toys ranging
from nutcrackers to dolls made of walnuts and prunes.
And all along the way, indulge in the tasty treats of gingerbread,
sausages, roasted chestnuts, and of course, sweet-and-spicy
hot-mulled wine.
Day 3: Cruising the Danube
Spend a full day cruising the Danube. You’ll soon understand why
this river has inspired countless artists, poets and musicians over
the centuries.
Day 4: Regensburg
Located amid gently rolling hills lies Regensburg, a well preserved
medieval gem where little has changed in nearly five centuries.
Within this perfect backdrop, you’ll find treasures galore on your
tour from the Roman ruins to the magnificent Gothic Cathedral.
And what can be more satisfying as you wander through the
Christmas Market than indulging in steamed dampfnude,
dumplings with vanilla sauce.
Day 5: Passau
Quaint and peaceful describe Passau. Baroque, and neoclassical
sights of Passau are yours to enjoy before we visit the Christmas
Market. Unique crafts adorn the market including Bavarian-styled
houses and glass ornaments.
Day 6: Linz
Amidst the backdrop of pastel facades of baroque buildings, is
the lively Christmas Market filled with everything from Christmas
Crèches, for which Linz is famous, to the ever popular and
eponymous Linzer Torte. Enjoy the festive atmosphere with bands
filling the air with holiday music, and fairy lights lending a special
sparkle to one of Austria’s largest markets. |
Day 7: Cruising the Wachau Valley, Melk and Dürnstein
Perched along the cliffs of the Danube rises the dramatic 900-yearold
Baroque Abbey of Melk. While visiting the abbey, marvel at the
stunning views from its terrace. Travel further down the Danube
to Dürnstein. Bordered by a triangle of fortified walls, Dürnstein is
situated against rugged cliffs overlooking the Danube. Inside this
medieval town’s walls is the Augustinian Convent, a masterpiece
of Baroque architecture, and site of your organ concert.
Days 8 – 10: Vienna
The most famous Christmas Market in Austria is set in front of city
hall with over 140 wooden huts. Macaroons with nutmeg and rum
balls are treats you won’t want to miss. You have two full days to
soak up the Christmas spirit in Vienna. During one of your days,
get acquainted with the city on a panoramic tour, and then in the
evening join us for a celebration of the musical heritage of Austria. |

Day 1: London - Paris D
Depart London for the White Cliffs of Dover, before crossing to
Calais in France. Cross World War Battlefields to the exciting city
of Paris for two nights. In the evening why not enjoy a tour of this
city’s illuminations?
Day 2: Paris sightseeing & at leisure BB
Sightseeing tour of Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysées, Opéra, Louvre
and Notre Dame Cathedral. Spend the afternoon and evening at
your leisure. Don’t miss the chance of trying out some delicious
Parisian cuisine in a cosy left bank bistro!
Day 3: Paris - Lucerne BB D
Travel through wine-producing Burgundy to the medieval town
of Beaune. Cross the remains of wartime defences, passing the
Maginot Line near Belfort. Continue into Switzerland at Basel for
your first picture-book views of chalets on the approach to the Alps
and lakeside Lucerne.
Day 4: Lucerne - Milan BB D
Orientation tour in this medieval town with a visit to the Lion
Monument. At leisure, maybe take a trip up a nearby mountain
peak. Then journey along St. Gotthard route, through Alpine
scenery and the Italian Lake District en route to fashionable Milan.
Day 5: Milan - Rome BB
Drive through the agricultural region of Emilia Romagna to
Bologna and the Apennine Mountains bound for the ‘Eternal City’
Rome, where you will spend 2 nights. Later, why not dine out at a
local trattoria?
Day 6: Rome sightseeing & at leisure BB
Morning sightseeing with a local guide visits the Forum,
Colosseum & St. Peter’s Basilica. The rest of your day is free to
maybe shop, explore or relax in a sidewalk cafe.
Day 7: Rome - Florence BB D
The day begins with a drive through the Chianti wine-producing
region of Tuscany to Florence. Sightseeing tour on foot including
the Cathedral, Baptistry, Signoria Square and Santa Croce Basilica.
The rest of the day is at leisure to shop, or walk along the River
Arno to the Ponte Vecchio. |
Day 8: Florence - Venice (Mestre) BB D
Short drive to Venice where you will savour the city’s unique
sights and sounds on an included canal cruise by private motor
launch to St. Mark’s Square, viewing the Bridge of Sighs. After a
visit to a traditional glass-blowing factory, time is your own to do
as you please.
Day 9: Venice (Mestre) - Munich BB D
Drive past Lake Garda and head into the Dolomites. Climb the
Brenner Pass into Austria. Discover Innsbruck before travelling on
to Munich.
Day 10: Munich - Rhineland BB D
Morning orientation tour highlights the Olympic Stadium and
Marienplatz. Continue to Heidelberg to view its red sandstone
Castle, high above this University city of ‘Student Prince’ fame
Head to your Rhineland hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Rhineland - Amsterdam BB
Embark by the Lorelei Rock in St. Goar for a relaxing Rhine cruise
gliding past medieval castles and terraced vineyards. Step ashore
in Boppard, and drive via Bonn to Cologne. From here cross the
border before Arnhem, scene of World War II action and continue
to Amsterdam where you will visit a diamond polishing factory.
Day 12: Amsterdam - London BB
Morning orientation tour includes the Tower of Tears, the Royal
Palace and Dam Square. Leave Amsterdam driving through
Belgium, past Antwerp en route to Calais for the ferry crossing to
England and return to London. |

Day 1: Arrive Rome D
Arrive at Rome Fiumicino airport, transfer to hotel for 2 nights.
Check-in and spend the remainder of the day at your leisure,
relaxing or exploring. Enjoy a welcome drink in the evening with
your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.
Day 2: Rome sightseeing & at leisure BB
Visit St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican with a local guide. From here
you will cross the Tiber into ancient Rome stopping in the Forum
to admire the mighty Colosseum, before heading to the Circus
Maximus. The rest of your day is at leisure perhaps to sightsee
further or relax with a cappuccino at a pavement café on the Via
Veneto.
Day 3: Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento BB D
Today’s journey then takes you past the Abbey of Monte Cassino
en route to the Bay of Naples. Next you will enjoy a guided tour
of Pompeii, the town frozen in time when it was engulfed by the
eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. The day’s journey continues along
the coastline to Sorrento where you will spend the next two nights.
Dinner is included at your hotel this evening.
Day 4: Isle of Capri Excursion BB
After breakfast, you will witness the art of inlaid wood-working,
one of the crafts of the Sorrento peninsula. The tour then embarks
on an excursion by ferry to the Isle of Capri. There’s plenty of time
to explore this lovely island.
Day 5: Sorrento – Assisi BB D
This morning’s drive will take you to the province of Umbria and
mystical Assisi, perched on Mount Subasio and overlooking a
peaceful Umbrian landscape. This city under the protection of
St. Francis is still enclosed by medieval ramparts. On arrival a
sightseeing tour includes the Basilica of St. Francis. Later time is
your own to do as you please. Why not shop for local handicrafts?
Your evening meal is included at your hotel.
Day 6: Assisi – Ravenna – Venice (Mestre) BB D
Enjoy a morning drive along the Adriatic Coast to the Roman town
of Ravenna with its ancient mosaics and Byzantine architecture.
Visit the Church of St. Apollinaris in Classe before seeing the
Romanesque Basilica of Pomposa. Drive on to the floating city of
Venice for a two-night stay. |
Day 7: Venice sightseeing & at leisure BB
After breakfast absorb the city’s unique atmosphere on an
included canal cruise by private motor launch to St. Mark’s Square.
View the Bridge of Sighs, Doges’ Palace and Basilica. Stop to visit a
traditional glass-blowing factory. Then with time on your own you
may wish to discover the island of Burano and enjoy a delicious
seafood lunch. During the evening a gondola serenade would be
hard to resist!
Day 8: Venice (Mestre) – Verona – Milan – Italian Lakes BB D
The day starts with a drive to the home of Shakespeare’s
star-crossed lovers, Verona. The tour will stop to admire the
Roman Arena and Juliet’s balcony before crossing the plains of
Lombardy to the fashionable city of Milan. Here you will see the
gothic ‘Duomo’, ‘La Scala’ Opera house and the famous Galleria.
You will arrive at your hotel in the Italian Lake District for dinner
and an overnight stay.
Day 9: Lugano Excursion BB D
This morning enjoy an excursion into the Ticino, the Italianspeaking
region of Switzerland, where you will stop to visit the
beautiful resort of Lugano. Later, you will return to the hotel for
dinner and the night.
Day 10: Italian Lakes – Pisa – Florence BB
The morning drive goes via the Plains of Lombardy across the
Apennine Mountains to Genoa, Columbus’ birthplace, then to Pisa,
before arriving in Florence for 2 nights. For the evening, why not
venture out into the hills surrounding the city for a meal of gourmet
Tuscan cuisine accompanied by some delicious Chianti wine?
Day 11: Florence sightseeing & at leisure BB D
Guided sightseeing includes the Cathedral, Signoria Square and
Santa Croce Basilica. Later, enjoy a panoramic view from Piazzale
Michelangelo before free time. Perhaps discover the artistic
wonders in the museums or shop for leather and gold. Dinner is
included at the hotel.
Day 12: Florence – Siena – Serre di Rapolano – Rome BB
Enjoy a scenic drive through the Chianti wine-producing region
to medieval Siena. There’s time to explore the wonders of the city
before stopping to visit the grounds of the ancient castle of Serre
di Rapolano. The tour arrives in Rome late in the afternoon.
Day 13: Depart Rome BB
‘Buon viaggio’ to new-found friends as you transfer to Rome
Fiumicino airport for your return flight home. |

After breakfast travel to Toledo where you will enjoy a guided

Day 3: Granada – Costa del Sol BB D
The morning sightseeing tour visits the exquisite Alhambra Palace,
before moving on to the centre of the Costa del Sol where for the
evening, you may wish to sample the nightlife of this lively beach
resort area.
Day 4: Costa del Sol – Fez BB
Begin with a Mediterranean coastal drive to Algeciras for the
crossing to North Africa. Continue into a different world as you
enter Morocco, driving past the Rif Mountains to the Imperial city
of Fez and the first of your six-night stay in Africa!
Day 5: Fez sightseeing & at leisure BB D
Morning sightseeing tour shows you the fascinating labrynthine
Medina plus the Royal Palace. Enjoy the atmosphere of this exotic
city with time to haggle over beautiful Moroccan souvenirs! During
the afternoon time is your own to do as you please.
Day 6: Fez - Marrakesh BB D
Drive through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh for
two nights, Africa’s most popular year-round sun resort.
Day 7: Marrakesh sightseeing & at leisure BB
Sightseeing with local guide visits the Bahia Palace and stops at
the vast Djemma el F’na with its palm-readers, acrobats, camels,
markets and more. Enjoy free time for bargain hunting in the
souks and bazaars or maybe take an excursion to a Berber village.
Day 8: Marrakesh - Casablanca BB D
Drive to Casablanca. Your sightseeing tour shows the modern
parts of the city, then you will visit the Casbah, to explore its maze
of twisted streets. |
Day 9: Casablanca – Tangier BB D
Drive along the Atlantic Coast to Rabat, capital of this fascinating
country. Enjoy an orientation featuring the Royal Mosque,
Mausoleum and Royal Palace. Then on to Tangier, where an
orientation reveals the highlights.
Day 10: Tangier - Seville BB D
A morning ferry cruise across the Straits of Gibraltar, with views
of the famous Rock. Journey through Jerez vineyards to beautiful
Seville where you will spend 2 nights.
Day 11: Seville sightseeing & at leisure BB D
Morning sightseeing highlights the Giralda Tower along with the
pools and fountains of the Maria Luisa Park. Tonight, enjoy dinner
in your hotel.
Day 12: Seville - Lisbon BB
Drive to Portugal and arrive in Lisbon, the capital for a two-night
stay. For the evening, you may wish to listen to the haunting ‘Fado’
melodies along the Bairro Alto?
Day 13: Lisbon sightseeing & at leisure BB
Morning sightseeing highlights the medieval quarter, Vasco da
Gama’s Tomb inside the Hieronymite Monastery. The rest of your
day is at leisure, perhaps to shop for pottery and fishermen’s
sweaters in Cascais.
Day 14: Lisbon – Salamanca BB D
Enjoy the scenic drive through the Serra d’Aire Mountains, arriving
at the Shrine at Fatima, scene of celebrated religious miracles.
Cross the border back into Spain to Salamanca.
Day 15: Salamanca – Madrid BB
First stop is at Avila, birthplace of St. Theresa. Continue past the
Sierra de Guadarrama back to Madrid. Here a sightseeing tour
features views of the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol and Cervantes
Memorial.
Day 16: Depart Madrid BB

DEPOSIT & FINAL PAYMENT
1. Your tour/cruise reservation will be confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable deposit of $200 per person which must be paid within 7 DAYS of booking or the reservation will automatically be
cancelled.
2. Full payment is required at least 90 days (for river cruise bookings) 45 days (for tour bookings) prior to departure from Australia. For reservations made less than 90 days (for river cruise bookings)
and 45 days (for tour bookings) prior to departure from Australia, full payment is required at time of booking.
3. Trafalgar reserves the right to cancel the reservation and impose cancellation charges should payments not be received within the above specified periods.
BOOKING CHANGES
A minimum fee will be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed unless the change increases the value of the booking.
CANCELLATION AND CANCELLATION FEES
• If you cancel more than 90 days prior to tour departure days (for river cruise bookings) and 45 days (for tour bookings), your deposit will not be refunded, nor can it be credited to any other booking.
• Cancellation within 90 days will incur further penalty.
• Notice of cancellation must be made in writing through your Harvey World Travel Agent.
PASSPORTS & VISAS
It is the responsibility of each passenger to have a valid passport and necessary visas, as well as to comply with entry, health or other requirements for the countries visited.
