For the ultimate European experience, it’s hard to overlook this journey. Glide along the waters between Budapest and Trier, through the heart of this enchanting continent. Then continue by land to the enticing French capital of Paris for a three night stay.
Day 1. Arrive Budapest
Arrive in Budapest and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2. Budapest Sightseeing
Today a morning sightseeing tour takes you to such places as historic Buda Castle, where you have views of Buda and Pest over both banks of the river. You’ll also visit 500 year-old Matthias Church, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and more, before the remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure.
Day 3. Budapest
Today enjoy some free time to further explore Budapest. This afternoon, board your luxury river ship, moored on the banks of the Danube River. Tonight enjoy the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner.
Day 4. Bratislava
Today your ship reaches the Slovakian capital of Bratislava where you’ll disembark for a choice of guided tours. Explore the city sights on a walking tour, or take a Communist themed tour revealing historic landmarks of the era. Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure.
Day 5. Vienna
On arrival in Vienna enjoy a tour including Hofburg Palace, the Opera House, Ringstrasse and St Stephen’s Cathedral. Then, during time at leisure, perhaps go shopping in the pedestrian-only Kärntnerstrasse. Perhaps take an excursion to tour stunning Schönbrunn Palace (own expense). After dinner, you may like to join us for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (own expense).
Day 6. Dürnstein - Melk
Stop in Dürnstein for a tour then, just before lunch, visit a local vintner for a wine tasting. After, cruise to Melk and tour Melk Abbey, located above the town on an outcrop overlooking the Danube.
Day 7. Linz - Passau
After breakfast, perhaps take an optional full-day tour to Salzburg and its ‘Sound of Music’ sights (own expense). Or stay on board and cruise to Passau for a tour of this historic city. All guests then rejoin your ship for dinner on board.
Day 8. Regensburg
Tour the medieval city sights, or take a guided bike ride to Walhalla. Tonight enjoy a music performance on board.
Day 9. Nuremberg
This morning, enter the Main-Danube Canal and relax as you cruise through the beautiful Altmühl Valley. Later, your ship arrives in Nuremberg, where you’ll disembark for a choice of tours. After the tour, enjoy time at leisure. Your ship remains moored overnight in Nuremberg.
Day 10. Nuremberg, Munich
Today travel by train to Munich, capital of Bavaria and one of Germany’s largest cities. Here enjoy free time to explore. Your escort today will provide ideas of what to do, and will also take you to lunch in a local restaurant.
Day 11. Bamberg
Today disembark your ship just outside Bamberg and travel in to the city by coach for a guided tour. Then rejoin your ship and continue cruising along the Main River.
Day 12. Würzburg
Enjoy a tour of Würzburg, taking in sights including the Residential Palace. Later, perhaps take an optional tour to medieval Rothenburg (own expense).
Day 13. Wertheim, Freudenberg - Miltenberg
Arrive in Wertheim and enjoy free time. Then travel by coach to Freudenberg to rejoin your ship. Cruise on to Miltenberg and enjoy a walking tour then continue cruising.
Day 14. Mainz - Rüdesheim
In Mainz, enjoy a sightseeing tour, including a visit to the Gutenberg Museum. Continue cruising to Rüdesheim for a ride on the Winzerexpress mini-train and a tour of Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Later, cruise the Rhine Gorge, the most beautiful part of the Rhine River.
Day 15. Cochem - Zell
Watch as the scenery of the Moselle Valley drifts by this morning. On arrival in the town of Cochem, visit Reichsburg Castle and absorb stunning views over the river below. Then continue past hillside vineyards to Zell, and tonight, enjoy a wine tasting.
Day 16. Trier
Today you’ll arrive in beautiful Trier. On the banks of the Mosel in the famous wine-growing region, Trier is Germany’s oldest city. Here, alight your ship for a guided tour of the city’s rich Roman past, including the Roman Baths and the Roman Amphitheatre.
Day 17. Remich, Disembark Ship, Luxembourg, Paris
This morning after breakfast, you’ll disembark your ship in Remich, a city in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Travel in to the World Heritage-listed city of Luxembourg for a tour. Afterwards, board a high-speed train and ride the TGV rail service in to France and on to its capital, Paris.
Day 18. Paris Sightseeing
After breakfast today, you’ll set out on a guided sightseeing tour. Discover the famous sights of Paris and then enjoy time at leisure.
Day 19. Paris at Leisure
Enjoy a free day to yourself in the most romantic city in the world. Relax or explore independently.
Day 20. Depart Paris
Enjoy a final breakfast in Paris before your tour concludes and you are transferred to the airport.
