Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Thu. Arrive Perth, Perth Sightseeing
Passengers are met on arrival at Perth Airport.?Take an afternoon tour of the sights of this unique and beautiful city, including Kings Park with 400 hectares of delightful gardens. Situated only a few minutes from the centre of Perth, Kings Park features sweeping parklands, botanic gardens, native bushland and, in spring, a spectacular display of more than 1,700 native species of wildflowers.
Day 2 Fri. Geraldton, Wildflower Country
Visit the historical town of New Norcia, first settled in 1846 by the Benedictine monks. Visit the renowned Benedictine Abbey and the museum with its antique collection, before continuing on to the Western Wildflower Farm for an inspection of the farm and drying sheds where the everlastings, kangaroo paws, flowering gums and other species are prepared for export. In the afternoon, travel to Mullewa and on to Geraldton with wildflower viewing stops where possible. After good winter rains, this area is ablaze with the colour of the everlasting displays.
Day 3 Sat. Nambung National Park, Pinnacles
This morning depart Geraldton after breakfast and enjoy the trip south along the coast to Leeman and Cervantes before arriving at Nambung National Park. Marvel at the ancient limestone pillars of the Pinnacles Desert, then travel back to Perth via the Brand Highway for arrival at approx. 6.00 pm.
Day 4 Sun. Albany Sightseeing
This morning depart Perth and travel to Albany. In the afternoon visit the historic homestead of Old Farm at Strawberry Hill.
Day 5 Mon. Albany Sightseeing, Mt Romance Bodycare Factory, Banksia. Farm
Tour Albany and admire the amazing coastal vegetation and wildflowers. Visit the Mt Romance Bodycare Factory and explore the wildflower wonderland of Banksia Farm on a guided tour of the bushland.
Day 6 Tue. Karri Timber Forests, Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk
This morning head to Gloucester National Park and see the 60 metre tall Gloucester Tree. This Karri tree towers over the surrounding forest and was chosen as a fire lookout in 1947. Today visitors can climb to the tree’s canopy on the Valley of the Giants Tree Top walk for spectacular views of the surrounding forest. Then enjoy a wildflower walk and take the King Jarrah Heritage Trail to a Jarrah tree that is over 1200 years old. Look for the array of plants including delicate orchids, brilliant coral peas and white clematis.
Day 7 Wed. Secret Garden, Wallcliffe House
Today visit the magnificent Paul Bangay designed “Secret Garden”, located in a secluded valley on the Brookland Valley Vineyard Estate. Then continue on to Wallcliffe House garden, built in 1885 by the pioneering Bussell Family on the edge of the Margaret River, and restored by the current owners. Enjoy a free afternoon or visit Voyager Estate Winery and its grand Cape Dutch ‘werf’ garden. Stroll the werf’s paths, past whitewashed walls, among flowerbeds and shady trees. See the two rose gardens featuring 1600 roses.
Day 8 Thu. Merribrook Estate, Orondo Gardens
Visit Merribrook Estate. Explore the estate’s lakeside gardens and magnificent scented landscaped gardens. Then continue to Fremantle via the grand Orondo Farm Garden at Dwellingap.
Day 9 Fri. Private Gardens, Fremantle, Perth
Enjoy private garden visits, meeting garden owners. Then enjoy a return cruise along the Swan River, seeing exclusive gardens and houses that line the river.
Day 10 Sat. Depart Perth
Take a guided tour of the grounds of the University of WA including a morning tea with Friends of the University before you transfer to the airport.
